Orem Arboretum Discovery Trail Activities

Inspired by the beautiful trees? Become a part of the arboretum by submitting fun and educational activities!

The Orem Arboretum uses the Plant Education Walk learning model created by Dr. Ashley N. Egan to incorporate project-based, service-learning pedagogy that teaches students and surrounding communities about native plants. We’ve created this platform to engage all learners in sharing what they know and inspiring others through educational activities made available to the public. We welcome submissions from individuals, students, and educational institutions. The main requirements are that submissions are scientifically accurate, original creations, and properly cited.

Please follow the criteria below when submitting your activity

  • A clear title related to the activity.
  • At least a 2–3 sentence description of the activity placed under the title.
  • Content adheres to a consistent reading level. For example, activities for children include visual elements, while activities for high school students might explain the taxonomy of each tree.
  • All content not created by you must be attributed to its source. For example, images copied from the internet should include a caption and a reference in a References section. References and citations must follow APA format.
  • Include the author’s name at the very end of the document:
“This activity was made by _______________________.”
  • Submit the activity as a PDF document (.pdf).

Note: All activities will be reviewed by the City of Orem prior to publication.
