Job Title: Parade Banner Carrier

Description/Purpose: A parade banner carrier walks in the evening parade while carrying a vinyl banner that recognizes the winning parade entries.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist fellow volunteers in carrying eight vinyl banners along the parade route
• Carry the banners in front of the winning entries
• Return banners to the designated area at the end of the parade route

Age Requirement: Must be at least 12 years old or be accompanied by an adult.

Qualifications Needed: No previous experience necessary.  This position is ideal for friendly people who enjoy walking and interacting with large crowds.

Time Commitment: 3 hours.

Work Location: meet at the check-in booth located near the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building at 545 South 800 East in Orem.

Training: A brief training session will be held when you arrive for your shift.

Support: Parade banner carriers will primarily report to Liz Woolf at 801-636-1957 or lwoolf82@gmail.com.

Uniform: Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Bring a jacket in case of inclement weather.

Benefits: In addition to the good feelings that come from serving your community, each volunteer will receive a Summerfest T-shirt.

Volunteer Agreement

I represent to the Orem Summerfest Committee ("Committee") that I am fully authorized to sign for and bind the undersigned volunteer ("Volunteer") regarding participation in the 2019 Orem Summerfest.  On behalf of the Volunteer, I agree to comply with all rules prescribed by the Committee as deemed necessary for the efficient and safe conduct of the Orem Summerfest and related activities.  I agree to conduct myself in a proper, appropriate manner during the Orem Summerfest and related activities and to not engage in any activity that is dangerous or likely to cause harm, injury or damage to the person or property of others.

RIGHT OF TERMINATION: I understand that the Committee reserves the right to restrict or reject my participation without liability to the Committee.  Any member of the Committee may exercise this right at any point in time, before or during the Orem Summerfest, for any reason considered by the Committee to be inconsistent with the goals, values, and objectives of the Orem Summerfest.

INDEMNIFICATION: As a condition of being a participant in the Orem Summerfest, I agree to assume full responsibility for my conduct and to indemnify and hold the Orem Summerfest, the Orem Summerfest Committee and their respective volunteers, representatives, and agents; and the City of Orem and its officers, officials, employees, representatives, volunteers and agents; and all others having any responsibility therefore, harmless from any liability, claim, loss or expense (including attorney's fees) caused by or arising from (a) any conduct or negligence by me (b) any act of any Orem Summerfest participant or spectator (c) any infringement or violation by me of the rights of others.

I understand that the Committee reserves the right to screen volunteer applicants and will place applicants in specific locations and positions based on the needs of the Committee.  I understand that I will not be paid for my services as a volunteer, and I am giving my time freely to the Orem Summerfest.

I understand that submitting this volunteer application does not automatically guarantee my participation in Orem Summerfest, and that I will be notified in writing of such acceptance.
